Chris Achilleos

Chris Achilleos was born in Cyprus 1947, but his family moved to England in 1960 after his father died. Because he didn't have a portfolio he was accepted into Hornsey Art College based largely on the merit of his work. He graduated with high honors in his specialization: Scientific and Technical Illustration. The sheer power of his imagery has long been recognized by the publishing and film industry, and he is in demand for film and TV work, book covers, album covers, game box covers and various other types of commercial art. (His book covers have included such best-selling series as "Doctor Who", "Star Trek", "Fighting Fantasy" and several of Michael Moorcock's books). Achilleos has also had several of his own works published: "Beauty & The Beast", and "Sirens and Medusa". In the motion picture world he was discovered through his work with the cult animated film "Heavy Metal" in 1980. He has also worked with animator Ray Harryhausen on the movie "Clash of the Titans" and more recently with Ridley Scott on the movie "Blade Runner". Chris Achilleos remains to this day, a freelance artist.
